ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The AGM saw a few changes to the elected Officials for the forthcoming 2010 season.

Richard Lee stepped down as Captain to become Deputy to Scott Andrew in the 1st XI. The status quo was maintained in the 2nds with John Nester & Dickon Perry continuing & Richard Lee has taken over from brother Eddie as Captain of the Sunday XI with Matt Dean elected as Vice Captain.

Off the field, Colin Peat & Dave Gleave were newly elected onto the Committee and there is a welcome return to the Committee to John Watson.

Good luck to one and all for the new season.

Tom Wright

5 Feb Progress is gathering pace as Tom goes from strength to strength. Although still in residence at Linden Lodge, this is only now on a part time basis. From Thursday through till Monday, Tom is now back in his home surroundings with his family on Georges Lane. Monday through Wednesday Tom is receiving plenty of physio & care from the staff at Linden Lodge including sessions on the treadmill. Tom realised that this had become a necessity when he thought his legs were beginning to look like Fleas!

22 Jan Tom continues to make progress and is receiving lots of physio and rehabilitation. He will shortly be going home for a couple of hours at a time to start the process of getting back home on a permanent basis.

He does get really tired at the moment and can have problems with his short term memory.

Chris Wright would ask visitors to be considerate about his strength (physically and mentally) and keep visits short. It would be even better if prospective visitors could check with the family and see what sort of days he has had before they try to attend.

14 Jan As Tom is making such good progress, he has today moved 'home'. No longer is he at the QMC, he is continuing his recovery at Linden Lodge, City Hospital. Although visiting hours are longer (10am - 8pm), the first 10 days of his stay here will see a lot of work for Tom and his carers & visiting will be limited during that time. In any case please avoid meal times (12md and 5pm). Keep attacking Gun!

11 Jan With the help of a couple of Physio's, Tom today managed a 50 metre walk! Progress continues to be made, keep going Gun!

7 Jan He's up! For the first time in 4 weeks Tom is sitting up in a chair at the side of his bed. Yesterday, Tom managed to eat some food for the first time and was in good spirits when visited by the Chairman today. He apologised for not making it to nets last night, but will endeavour to be there next week! Although a bit tired, Tom was talkative and on good form.

Tom is currently on Ward D11 at the QMC. If you wish to visit, please contact his family to organise this so that visits are staggered/co-ordinated.

3 Jan Tom continues to make slow but steady progress & has now moved onto one of the neurological wards from the HDU. He is managing to communicate by writing now.

26 Dec Tom has improved a little bit more. He is more focused and responds to his name and
some instructions. Tom has been transferred to the High Dependency Unit from ICU,
visiting restrictions still apply until we are advised otherwise. Time is a good healer,
keep the faith, love & hope.

23 Dec Tom is now breathing for himself & is making some slow but sure progress.

As many of you will know, Tom Wright was seriously injured in a car crash on the evening of Wednesday 9th December. Tom has since been in an induced sleep in the Intensive Care Unit at QMC for six days.

Yesterday (16th December) the staff at the ICU began slowly bringing Tom back awake, this will take some time and he will remain in intensive care for the time being.

It goes without saying that all our thoughts and prayers are with Tom and his family at this difficult time.

Please Note:
The Intensive Care Unit is not designed or able to cope with the number of visitors wishing to see Tom. The ICU policy is to allow access to immediate family only. We would therefore ask you not to try to visit Tom or call the ward. We will endeavour to keep you informed of developments as they become available via the website.

Cope Cup 2010

The draw has been made for this years competition where the charity to benefit from all funds raised will be 'Homestart'.

Home-Start Nottingham is a charity that offers support, friendship and practical help to parents with young children, in Nottingham City and the County boroughs of Broxtowe, Gedling and Rushcliffe.

With twelve teams entering this years competition, there will be four leagues of three for the round robin stage. Calverton have been drawn to play away at Burton Joyce on Tuesday 1st June and at home to Caythorpe on Tuesday 15th June. The winners of each league will go forward to play in the Cope Cup Semi Finals, the second placed teams will contest the Singleton Trophy and the third placed teams the Pykett Plate.

Whats more, Calverton have been asked by the organising committee to host the Singleton Cup Final. This will be held on Tuesday 13th July.

Good luck to all the teams involved & most importantly lets hope the collection tins are well subscribed!
